As Bengal celebrated Saraswati Puja on Basant Panchami (Sunday), musician duo Sourendro-Soumyojit went the traditional Gurukul way for the event at their music school.

The Saraswati Mandap was designed by students, all wearing traditional attire such as sarees and kurtas. The puja was conducted as per rituals, with Sourendro-Soumyojit, along with their students, offering ‘Sangeet Anjali’

Speaking to News18, Sourendra said, “Sangeet is everything for us and also for our students. For the past one month, they prepared the Sangeet Anjali. They want to pray to God through sangeet. It’s all their effort. The Sangeet Anjali made the celebration unique.”

Tradition, culture, and arts were earlier taught in the Gurukul system. This music school is trying to use those Gurukul techniques.

Soumyojit told News18, “They don’t stay here in this music school, but all our music learning processes are like gurukul, that’s why we offered Sangeet Anjali. In today’s scenario, it’s very important to showcase and project our tradition for Gen Z. So we celebrate Saraswati Puja at the school.”
